Should the U.S mind its business??

The answer to this is a yes and a no. Yes, they should mind their business b/c in some cases, citizens dont want to be involved in things thats life threatening. One day, we may get blowed up by nuclear bombs because of not minding our business. No, they shouldnt because there's lots of countries thats out there being bullied by other big countries, and not able to stand up for their own. The U.S is known for bullying (as i heard), and i think its right for them to stand up and help the smaller countries (supplies wise too).

Is It All About the Money??

Today, peoples actions are driven by money. Money can make you do things you dont want to do. They say money is the ruler of all evil. Money causes you to disrespect yourself, it causes you to steal from others, and sometimes kill. Money can sometimes lead to happiness, in other cases it dont. Not having money can cause stress. Not being able to pay bills and not being able to provide for yourself and others can be painful. The people that has money aren't no better than the ones who have money b/c the ones that has money do stupid things. People that has money, get on drugs. They buy foolish stuff, but at the end of the day, are they still happy?? The wealthy gets their money from working, of course. In others, wealth probally just run in the family. Most people get wealthy b/c of connections. Some people just keeps in the family, thats if they're not stingy. In a way, i think it is the rich people responsibility to share with others, and then again, its not. If they have billions of dollars, i atleast think they should give it to people who does fundraisers for cancer or something. Instead of just letting their money just sit there and not do anything with it.

"FIGHTS"

When i was in the 4th grade i had got into a fight. At that time i was attending Chase street Elementary. One day at recess, me and these two other boys, was throwing acorns at each other, but we was playing. After about 15 minutes of playing, me and one boy had "joined forces" and started throwing acorns at the other boy. So the boy had got mad and he had called me a black $#!* and as soon as he called me that, we had got the fighting. Shortly, the teachers had came over and broke us up. We both had got sent to the principle office. After hearing both sides of the story, the principle had made the boy come and apologize for calling me a black @$!%. The boy was suspended and could not go to field day. Me on the other hand, went right back to class unsuspended, and was able to go to field day. Really, the fight didnt not improve nor hurt our relationship because i never saw him again because the following year, i had went to David C. Barrow Elementary School.

How can growing up be both exciting and painful?

Well for me, growing up can be somewhat exciting and very painful. I think the painful overpowers the exciting. But anyways........while growing up, people cant expect things to be perfect. We may wish that things were perfect but we're always gone have our ups and downs. Well, the exciting part about growing up, is that i'll get to get my own job, my own money, more privledges, etc....Its like the older you get, the more places you are capable of geting in ( like clubs). Also, you dont get treated like a child too, so thats good. The painful thing about growing up is that you go through puberty, boy problems, rumors, jobs, school, etc.......But some folks get stressed out about puberty because they have acne problems. Some folks gain weight in all the wrong places and some loose it. Oh yea, there be alot of problems with relationships and what mostly stresses you out too.....

Life of a Slave Girl

Well, in the passage, the girl tells about her grandmother and her mother being a slave. she mostly speaks on her grandmother alot b/c she thinks she's a remarkable woman in many respects. One thing that suprised me the most, was when the girl said that her grandmother was treated good (i guess) and she was known for her cooking/crackers. Back then, people were slaves and there children was born into slavery. Now, people are free and their not thought of as a piece of merchandise.

When is Breaking the Law Justified?

5 purposes of government

Defense: One of the five purposes of government is to defend the borders of the nation against foreign invasions. Hence, all governments have some form of defense system that includes the army, navy and air force. Maintaining internal order is also one of the defense purposes of the government. This is taken care of by the police force.

National Identity: Each and every nation is unique in its own way. Each nation has its own tradition and culture. It is said for a nation to exist, it must have an identity. For instance, no two flags of any two nations are alike nor are the anthems and pledges. Hence, one of the functions of a government is to protect the identity of its nation.

Representation: A government represents the interest of the nation. To protect and safeguard the interest of the nation, the government enters into bilateral trade agreements, negotiation treaties and so on, with the governments of other nations.

Infrastructure: One of the main purposes of the government is to provide good infrastructure such as roads, bridges, drinking water, electricity and communication networks.

Social Welfare: Last but not the least, introducing social welfare programs to protect the interest of the minorities and also, to provide education and health care to the underprivileged class of the economy is one of the purposes of the government.

Would you be willing to join a revolution if our government was not fulfilling the purposes of government you listed above? Why? Why not?

No, because i wouldnt want my life or any others lives to be put in jeopardy. For example, those men who signed the declaration of independance, died or either lost something ( house, family, plantations, jobs). Im not that brave!!!

Assignment 1

1. What motivates immigrants to come to the United States (today)? Consider what they lose and what they can gain in your argument.
What motivates immigrants to come to the Unite States today is freedom. In most countries, there is still slavery. Immigrants know that in the U.S, there is just more than freedom, but there is opportunity as well. They want to be able to go as they please and to praise or be apart of any religion without being persecuted. In the process, people who migrate may loose family b/c some families may travel w/o money and little food. But whenever it’s all over and done with, they’ll be happy b/c the U.S. is one of the greatest country in the world.

2.) Thousands of Europeans chose to move to the British colonies. Some for economic reasons and some for freedoms. If you decided to immigrate somewhere, would you move for economic reasons or for freedom?
If I was to decide to immigrate somewhere, the reason for moving would be b/c of the freedom. I mean, who wants to be owned their whole life, not being able to be free. The reason for not picking economic reasons is b/c money brings problems. In some countries, some people probably can buy their own freedom but their probably limited. What sucks is the money people are spending just to be free could be going on something more important like their families or schooling for their children. But having freedom is where it’s at……….
